The publicly-listed company Pantone LLC said that Pantone ® 18-2120 Honeysuckle is the official color for 2011 and according to the press release, it will try to animate the upcoming year.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® explained the choice of color for 2011 saying that it will represent vibrancy and enthusiasm.
“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues. Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”
The eye-catching color is described by Eiseman as “festive reddish pink” that gives life and attracts positivity. The color’s name comes from the plant honeysuckle with flowers having an attractive reddish pink hue.

According to Wikipedia, honeysuckles are arching shrubs or twining vines that can be found in the Northern Hemisphere. It has around 180 species many of which have bell-shaped flowers that emit a sweet smell. Its flowers produce sweet nectar that attracts many birds, in particular, hummingbirds.
