Philippines under tsunami alert

Japan was struck by a major tsunami. It was about  13- foot (4-meter) tsunami that destroys or swept boats, cars and a lot of buildings were blown away by the big waves. Tsunami occurred after an 8.9 earthquake that slammed Japan's eastern coast this Friday, March 11, 2011. 

Hence, the neighboring country like Philippines made their announcement of tsunami alert in the country. 

There are about 19 provinces in the Philippines are under tsunami alert!

 

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has raised the Tsunami alert to Level 2 , hours after an 8.8-magnitude quake hit Northern Japan.

Earlier, these provinces were placed under alert following the strong earthquake in Northern Japan.

In a bulletin issued, these provinces are under watch:

• Batanes Group of Islands
• Cagayan
• Ilocos Norte
• Isabela
• Quezon
• Aurora
• Camarines Norte
• Camarines Sur
• Albay
• Catanduanes
• Sorsogon
• Northern Samar
• Eastern Samar
• Leyte
• Southern Leyte
• Surigao del Norte
• Surigao del Sur
• Davao Oriental
• Davao del Sur
