Typhoon Basyang Striked Philippines

Typhoon Basyang, the first typhoon landed the Philippine Island this July 2010.

Typhoon Basyang brought a huge damage resulting to loss of electricity in almost all of Luzon.

National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) confirmed today that the death toll reaches to twenty-three (23) while fifty-nine (59) are still missing because of the devastation done by typhoon Basyang in the Philippines.

Administrator Benito Ramos of the Office of Civil Defense-NDCC, three (3) deaths from Region 3, while seventeen (17) from Region 4-A, and also three (3) from Region 5.
It had reached to 3,274 damaged homes wherein 370 of it were destroyed completely, while 2,904 were slightly damaged.

Initial recorded damage in agriculture, infrastructure and schools increased to Php 22.7 million,
Php 12 million damages in infrastructure were at stake including destroyed bridges in Batangas.


PAGASA Latest Weather Update

 The latest weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration said that as of 4 a.m., the center of the storm was located 400 kilometers west northwest of Dagupan City.

“Basyang” is moving northwest at 19 km per hour and packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kph with gustiness of up to 100 kph.

This means that Typhoon Basyang is now moving farther from RP.
